The German coach Falko Goetz on January 5 completed procedures for ending his pre-period contract with the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF).
Based on regulations in the contract, he will receive US$66,000 in compensation, equal to three month’s salary.
On December 28, the National Coaching Committee decided to terminate the contract with Goetz, the German head coach of the national football squad.
The committee said the head coach had failed to fulfill his task since working in Vietnam, particularly when U23 Vietnam were thrashed 1-4 by Myanmar in the match for the third position in the 26th SEA Games in Indonesia in November.
It was also in agreement with the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF)’s proposal to employ a domestic coach in Goetz’s current position.
Goetz began his work as a coach for the Vietnamese national team in June 2011. He will return to Germany on January 9.
