While working in Beijing, VOV correspondents have been greeted with affection from Chinese people, especially from middle-aged or senior citizens who associate Vietnam with Ho Chi Minh – a great friend of the Chinese people.

Professor Wen Zhuang said he had the honour of being close to Uncle Ho for many years during his 20-year working period in Vietnam. Now already over 70 years old, he still rekindles a very clear memory of Uncle Ho with undying pride. He considers President Ho Chi Minh as a great master, a brilliant personality, and a true communist who has set a bright example for him to follow all his life. "I am deeply impressed by Uncle Ho. Though he departed this life a long time ago, my nostalgia for him remains and continues growing ever more deeper," said Professor Zhuang. "Revolutionary reality and national construction in Vietnam have deeply engraved the image of Uncle Ho on my memory. I especially admire him for his simplicity."

Meanwhile, Wang Xingming, former head nurse of Beijing Hospital, emotionally recalled her three meetings with President Ho Chi Minh. She was then a member of the Chinese medical group sent by Chinese premier Zhou Enlai to Hanoi to take care of Uncle Ho’s health.

The admiration for Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam’s great leader, has drawn Chinese audiences to the programmes of Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV). Many of them dream of travelling to Vietnam and getting to know more about President Ho Chi Minh. "My greatest desire is to arrive in Vietnam and visit the Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum," said Chen Junxiang, a regular VOV listener from the Chinese province of Shandong. "I revere him passionately and consider him a great leader of the socialist countries," he added.
