Ninety national beauties attending the 2010 Miss Earth pageant joined more than 1,000 entrepreneurs in a charity gala auction held in Ho Chi Minh City on November 11.

The gala was a venue for people to share their feelings and bid for goods in support of flood victims in central Vietnam.

Shown moving true images of local people in central Vietnam in the face of disasters, donors and businesses actively bought objects worth a total of nearly VND74 billion.

The set of the four sacred creatures ‘Dragon-Unicorn-Tortoise-Phoenix’ was sold for VND47.9 billion. Its starting price was VND40 billion. The millennial Thang Long-Hanoi kettledrum fetched VND12 billion for charity. A stone picture with signatures of all 90 Miss Earth candidates was sold at VND3 billion.

All proceeds will be transferred directly to the Ho Chi Minh Red Cross to help flood victims stabilize their lives.

Vietnam hosts the 2010 Miss Earth pageant, one of the five largest beauty contests in the world. During their stay in Ho Chi Minh city, the contestants in the pageant took part in charitable activities and called for environmental protection.
