The first festival for brass bands within the Catholic community started in the Red river delta province of Thai Binh on October 11 with the participation of 10 brass bands from eight provinces and a military brass band from Hanoi city.
Most of the musicians are members of bands that play for their local churches or dioceses.
The performances at the event reflects the achievements by the entire nation in all fields, including economics, politics, society and culture, as well as the great national unity regardless of local people’s ethnic or religious backgrounds.
The festival aims to promote cultural and art exchanges among the Catholic dioceses and to develop this kind of music throughout the country, said the organisers from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
