The Ministry of Education and Training and Canon Inc. signed a memorandum of understanding on the project “Canon Friendship School Chain” in Hanoi on July 18.

Under the MoU, Canon Inc. will fund US$400,000 to build and repair education facilities in remote and far-flung areas from now until 2010.


President and Chief Operation Officer of Canon Inc. Tsuneji Uchida said Canon pledged to support the construction of the chain of schools and school branches in remote areas to provide better study conditions for children.


Also at the ceremony, General Director of Canon Vietnam, Sachio Kageyama signed an agreement with local authorities of three districts Ham Yen in Tuyen Quang province, Da Bac in Hoa Binh province and Cam Thuy in Thanh Hoa province to start the project for the year 2007 with the rebuilding of 15 classrooms in these localities.


The “Canon Friendship School Chain” project also aims “For the next generation” – which is one of Canon Vietnam’s schemes to improve education conditions for Vietnamese children.
