The event features book installation art by painter Nguyen Bao Toan, discussions on types of Vietnam arts and culture, including ca tru, cheo (popular opera), ancient books, calligraphy, and meetings with authors.

The book-reading week, entitled “Time and Knowledge”, opened at the Viet Art Centre in Hanoi on August 7.


The event was co-organised by the Viet Art Centre and the World Publishing House to encourage reading culture in Vietnam by promoting the benefits daily reading and highlighting the spiritual and artistic value of books.


The event features book installation art by painter Nguyen Bao Toan, discussions on types of Vietnam arts and culture, including ca tru, cheo (popular opera), ancient books, calligraphy, and meetings with authors.


The book-reading week lasts until August 13.

 

Activities during the book-reading week

Aug. 8: Meeting with consultant of the World Publishing House Mai Ly Quang and Australian writer Rose Moham.

Aug. 9: Ca tru in Vietnam traditional arts presented by researcher Nguyen Xuan Dien

Aug. 10: Ancient books and calligraphy presented by calligrapher Nguyen Quang Thang and Dr Tran Doan Lam
Aug. 11: Cheo and Vietnam traditional arts presented by Dr Tran Doan Lam
