The Vietnamese Government on September 1 presented a book entitled "Vietnam and Friends' Hearts", the first publication about Vietnam's international friends during its struggle for independence and national reconstruction.
The book mentions many military experts, writers, journalists, social activists and ordinary people who have either sacrificed or devoted their lives to Vietnam.
Prominent among those listed are Cuban President Fidel Castro, who more than once offered to donate blood to Vietnam, Raymond Dien of France, who lay in front of a weapon-loaded train en route to Vietnam about half a century ago, and famous Beatles pop star John Lennon, who strongly protested against the US war in Vietnam.
The book also honours international organisations that have contributed to the international solidarity and friendship as well as national construction in Vietnam
