The Vietnam Peace and Development Foundation and Mission of Wallonie-Bruxelles in Vietnam, in co-ordination with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, will organize the screening of a documentary film entitled “From Saigon to Ho Chi Minh City” shot by Belgian reporters.

Accordingly, the film will be shown for the second time at Hanoi Cinematography Club, 22A Hai Ba Trung Hanoi at 7pm on June 15.

The Belgium documentary film was shot by three Belgian reporters Josy Dubié, Manu Bonmariage and Frans Wentzel on April 30, 1975. It features the last moments of the Saigon puppet regime and the first moments of liberated Saigon 33 years ago.

The three reporters were among a few foreign reporters present in Saigon on the day when southern Vietnam was completely liberated. The puppet troops were in a panic while local citizens poured into the streets to welcome the glorious victory.

The film was first screened on RTBF-2 on Belgium Television in May 1975. The commentary for the film then was lost. 30 years later, film director Josy Dubié wrote the commentary again and the film becomes a valuable documentary being preserved by Belgium.

Free entrance tickets are available from the Hanoi Cinematography Club for those who register via telephone at 831.52.40 and 831 52 41, or e-mail at oanhwb@fpt.vn before June 13.
