Vietnamese player Nguyen Hoang Nam was defeated by Japanese rival Shu Wade at the first round of the Yonex-Sunrise Malaysia Open GP Gold 2012, which opened on May 2.  

Nam fought hard in the first set but was narrowly beaten 21-17 and then thrashed 21-11 in the second set to finish the match in only 23 minutes.

Meanwhile, his team mate and the tournament’s No.2 seed Nguyen Tien Minh is automatically qualified for the second round in which he will face the winner of the match between Andre Marteen from Indonesia and Anand Pawar from India.

Nam and another team mate Duong Bao Duc, will play Kevin Dennerly-Minturn and Oliver Leydon-Davis from New Zealand in the first round of the men’s doubles event on the evening of May 2.
