The national “Then” song and “Tinh” music festival closed in the northern mountainous province of Cao Bang with an awards ceremony for the best artists on October 5.

As a result, 57 out of more than 100 art items were honoured, including 20 A prizes, 18 B prizes and nine C prizes.

The 3-day festival included an exhibition on the “Then” song and “Tinh” music space and a symposium on preservation and promotion of the unique traditional music of the
Tay, Nung and Thai ethnic groups.

The festival drew art troupes from 14 provinces and cities across the country.

The 2009 festival, the third of its kind, will take place in Bac Can province, also one of the cradles of the art in the northern region.
