The three-week Australian Film Roadshow 2008 will begin in Hanoi and then move on to other localities, including the north-central province of Thanh Hoa and central Nghe An, Quang Binh and Ha Tinh provinces, Ho Chi Minh City and An Giang province in the Mekong Delta, said the Australian Ambassador to Vietnam, Allaster Cox, at a ceremony in Hanoi on November 6.
Almost the screened films have been made by famous Australian directors, with two of them, “Home Song Stories” and “Ten Canoes” garnering a slew of international plaudits.
This promises to be a major contributor to Australia’s cultural activities in Vietnam, said Ambassador Cox, adding that the movies will help Vietnamese viewers to understand more about the past and current lives of Australians.
The ambassador also announced the launch of a book chronicling the history of the Vietnamese-Australian relationship to mark the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the two countries’ diplomatic ties.
An album entitled “Past and Present” featuring 57 photos recording special moments in the development of bilateral ties in the areas of politics, trade, investment, education, national defence, the environment, development cooperation, culture, humanitarian aid, sports and tourism will be launched on the occasion.
