A new theatrical production for children “Little Tale of Kangaroo at the Perfume River” written and directed by Vietnamese Australian director Le Quy Duong, will be performed in Thương Bac park, next to the Perfume River as part of the 2006 Hue festival.

According to the Australian Embassy in Hanoi, the production was co-funded by the embassy under its cultural programme and VACEP Australia Company.


The “Little Tale of Kangaroo at the Perfume River ” tells the journey of the main character, Kangaroo, to the land where the Festival is taking place. Kangaroo meets 12 Vietnamese friends (Mouse, Buffalo, Tiger, Cat, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Deer, Monkey, Chicken, Dog and Pig), and tells them the sad and happy moments of his journey. Finally Kangaroo enjoys the Festival with his new Vietnamese friends.


The programme will premiere at 19:00 hrs on June 5, with more shows on June 7,8 and 10 in Thương Bac park.
