Athletes win golds at Thai athletics

Vietnamese athletes won three golds, one silver and two bronzes at the Thailand Open Track and Field Championships, which ended at Thammasat University's sports complex in Bangkok on November 6.

Two gold medals went to Nguyen Van Lai in the men's 1,500m and 5,000m. While Nguyen Thi Oanh grabbed the remaining gold in the women's 400m hurdle, clocking in 55s75.

Oanh also bagged a bronze medal in the women's 400m with a time of 55s75.

Bui Thi Xuan came second in the women's javelin throw with her result of 48.25m.

In the men's high jump, Tran Cong Phuoc brought home a bronze by managing to clear the bar at 2.04m.

Vietnam sent an 11-member squad to compete in the four-day event, creating an opportunity for them to hone their skills for the Southeast Asian Games next year in Myanmar.
