Young Vietnamese pianist Luu Hong Quang has won a special prize at the International Piano Competition in Asia, which was held in Tokyo, Japan between January 9 and 12.

The contest is for talented pianists of different ages, acting as a springboard for them to approach and take part in international Chopin competitions in Poland, where artist Dang Thai Son once won first prize.

Luu Hong Quang is the only contestant from Vietnam to attend the group, which is designed for young artists under 16, together with 31 others from Japan, China, the Republic of Korea (RoK), Indonesia, and Malaysia.

Gold and bronze medals were won by Japanese contestants, while Chinese and RoK pianists snatched silver.
