He required the Ministries of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Foreign Affairs and Public Security and the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) to join hands in organising the event.

Vietnam participated in the regional beauty contest for the first time in 2005 with the country’s Miss Sports 2001 Nguyen Hong Ha representing Vietnam at the Miss Asia in Hong Kong, China.
