Four painters, Truong Quoc Lap, Trinh Quang Vu, Pham Tam and Nguyen Tan, with assistance from the Hanoi Industrial Fine Arts College have successfully restored an ancient painting collection on Thang Long-Hanoi.

The collection consists of 54 paintings made by painters, entrepreneurs and clergymen from China and European countries when they visited Vietnam from the 11th to 19th centuries.

The painting collection vividly and truthfully features the daily life of ordinary and royal people, costumes of people from all walks of life, ritual ceremonies such as funerals and weedings, art performances, and scenery and sculptures of the Imperial Citadel.

According to historians, the collection is a valuable document on the history of Thang Long.
The collection will be displayed at the Nha Rong-Dien Kinh Thien area in Hanoi Citadel Relic on January 25.
