Vietnamese and Lao people on August 26 joined an art performance in Vientiane as part of activities to mark Vietnam's National Day, September 2.

The Vietnamese singers came from a recent contest among Vietnamese residents in Laos and the Lao performers from the National Institute for Security Studies. They sang about their love of their homelands and Vietnam-Laos solidarity and friendship.

Prior to the performance, an awards ceremony for the singing contest took place. The ceremony was jointly held by the Vietnamese Embassy and the Vietnam Culture and Communications Centre in Laos in collaboration with the Vietnamese People's Association in Vientiane.

The ceremony was attended by Mounkeo Olaboun, member of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee and minister of Information and Culture (MIC); Bouangeune Saphouvong, deputy minister-cum-director general the MIC Department of Fine Arts, Nguyen Huy Quang, Vietnamese ambassador to Laos, representatives from the Laos National Institute for Security Studies, and more than 1,000 Vietnamese and Lao people.
