Archaeologists have called on the central coastal province of Phu Yen to preserve the cultural values of its Cham ethnic minority inhabitants.

Phu Yen houses 28 historical and cultural sites of the Cham ethnic minority people, where archaeologists have unearthed numerous artifacts and architectural remnants featuring the diversity of the Cham culture.

At the site of Thanh Ho, the citadel that remains the most intact of all the Cham-built citadels found in Phu Yen, archaeologists have found as many as 6,000 black-coloured terra-cotta objects and the three stone busts, thought to have been made in the 7th-8th centuries.

This evidence sheds brighter light on scientists' study of the Cham culture, affirming that the culture of Phu Yen Cham is an integral part of the Cham culture in the entire central region.
