Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has decided to select April 19 every year as Vietnam’s ethnic cultural day to honour national solidarity and highlight the cultural values of the Vietnamese people.
The PM’s decision aims to promote understanding among Vietnamese ethnic groups, preserve cultural values, increase people’s knowledge and uphold the fine tradition of ethnic groups, thus improving local people’s living conditions and boosting socio-economic development.
The Government leader has also asked functional agencies to organise Vietnam’s ethnic cultural day in an economical and practical manner and combine the event with socio-economic development, as well as culture, education, healthcare and poverty reduction programmes in different areas.
