Several ancient bronze drums have been unearthed in the two northern mountainous provinces of Thai Nguyen and Dien Bien over the past two weeks.
A bronze drum believed to belong to the Dong Son Culture some 2,000-3,000 years ago was discovered in Thai Nguyen province on April 13.
The drum was unearthed by a group of workers as they were upgrading communal roads in Dong Hy district.
The provincial museum said the drum is the fourth of its kind found in Thai Nguyen province. It weighs 12kg, is 30cm high and has a surface diameter of 36cm while its bottom diameter is measured at 45cm.
Six other bronze drums dating back to between the 15th-8th century have been discovered by farmers in Muong Ang district in Dien Bien province.
