Some ancient bronze weapons have been unearthed in Van Ban district, northern Lao Cai province. They are believed to belong to the Dong Son Culture some 2,000 years ago.

These original antiques include an intact 4-barbed point trident, which is 13 cm long and 7.5 cm wide, and an axe with patterns typical of the Dong Son Culture. The metal is still in good condition though buried underground for thousands of years.

The newly-found relics, especially the rare trident, show the sophisticated bronze casting skills of Dong Son people, and offer a glimpse of the country's development in the prehistoric stage.
