Pianist Julia Andrews from the US will perform at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatoire on November 7 evening as part of the city’s Contemporary Music Festival.
Andrews will play Dirk Johan Stromberg’s Pulsus Intractus (Broken Beats), a seven-part piece of music that reflects the composer’s ideas on how rhythm can connect disparate sounds.
Andrews teaches piano at Monmouth College in the US. She received two Bachelor of Music degrees in piano and music theory from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, and she has a Master of Music from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Andrews plays with the jazz trio Surprisingly Hip in many cities in the US.
Stromberg is also from the US and teaches music at the International Training Centre of the HCM City Institute of Technology.
Tickets for the concert range from VND60,000 to 100,000 and are available at the Conservatoire, 112 Nguyen Du Street, District 1.
