Ambassador Michalak said the centre, developed from the Information Resource Centre of the US embassy, would serve as a one-stop source of up-to-date information about all aspects of the US. It provides general information for the public as well as specialised information for government officials, scholars, researchers, journalists and post-graduate students.

The centre has more than 2,500 book titles and documents about the US and many documents for English teaching and learning and reference document on American higher education.

The centre will also regularly give film screenings, organise seminars and lectures on matters of interest in the US and hold a English speaking club and exhibitions.
