The Australian General Consulate will coordinate with stage director Le Quy Duong to introduce the performance “A Kangaroo comes to Vietnam” on February 25 at 5B Vo Van Tan, Dictrict No3, Ho Chi Minh City.
The performance tells the story of a Kangaroo coming from Australia see a Mouse in Vietnam on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2008 and in celebration of their 35-year-old friendship. While in Vietnam, the Kangaroo meets the Mouse and 11 other animals who are facing a lot of difficulties caused by traffic jams, environmental pollution, social ills and other negative aspects of integration. In a sincere gesture of friendship, Kangaroo helps them overcome every challenge step by step.
The show will start a new exchange programme between Vietnam and Australia.
Australian consulate general, Mal Skelly, said the performance “A Kangaroo comes to Vietnam” is one of cultural events celebrating 35 years of Vietnamese – Australian diplomatic relations. The image of Kangaroo, which is a symbol of Australia, has become familiar to Vietnamese, and stage director Le Quy Duong has helped to bring this symbol to the stage, addressing issues of concern to Vietnamese.
