The programme, which will be held on May 1 at Hanoi Friendship Cultural Palace aims to honour outstanding individuals and units who have actively contributed to the national construction and defence.

The organising board announced at a press briefing in Hanoi on April 24 that 10 outstanding persons and units will be honoured at the 6th “Vietnam Glory”. They are sublieutenant Nguyen Xuan Nghiem from army corps 16, Mai Thi Hien – wife of martyr senior lieutenant Pham Huu Huyen, senior lieutenant colonel Do Ngoc Toan – head of the anti-drug crime department of northern Lao Cai Border guard, Pham Huu Thao – director of Nui Beo Coal Joint Stock Company, Trinh Cong Thanh – a disabled person, Tran Thi Kim Oanh – worker at the Hanoi Garment Corporation, Do Van Trac – Chief Executive Officer of the Cable and Telecommunications Material Company, Ngo Van Tho – student of 11B7 class at Cua Tung Secondary School in Vinh Linh district, Central Quang Tri province, Sao Mai Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company in southern An Giang province and the Department of Guards and Judicial Support under the General Department of Public Security.


The 6th “Vietnam Glory” event is one of activities to mark the 60th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s call for a patriotic movement (June 11), National Unification Day (April 30) and May Day (May 1). The programme will be co-organised by Lao Dong (Labour) Newspaper, Quan Doi Nhan Dan (People’s Army) Newspaper, Vietnam Television, Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) and A Chau Friendship Company.


The event will be broadcast live on May 1 at 7.55pm on VOV1 channel.
