The National Junior Wushu Championships opened in Ho Chi Minh City on August 15.
The event attracts 400 athletes representing 40 sporting teams from across the country.
According to experts, this year’s tournament will see dramatic competitions between strong teams such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, the Army and the Public Security.
HCM City player Nguyen Mai Phuong, SEA Games 26 gold medalist, is set to miss the championship due to her injury.
Other outstanding faces of the host team, HCM City, will be participating however, including Nguyen Thanh Tung (World Games gold medalist in Taijiquan), Nguyen Quoc Khanh (World, ASIAD, and SEA Games silver medalist in Nanquan) and Nguyen Xuan Hiep (World and ASIAD Games silver medalist in Changquan).
