The 13 th Asia-Pacific Security Forum opened in the Republic of Korea ’s (RoK) capital, Seoul, on October 18, with senior defence officials from 26 regional countries attendaning.

The Vietnamese delegation, headed by Lieutenant General Tran Quang Khue, Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army led the Vietnamese delegation to the event.

The five-day forum will focus on how to deal with common challenges in the Asia-Pacific region.
At the forum, participants will discuss several major issues including cooperation between civil defence units and the armed forces in matters of international peace, the role of armies, and international cooperation in secure navigation.

As the host, the RoK is keen to boost cooperation in security with other countries in the region and will give a briefing on the country’s national defence industry. It will also give an insight into the security situation on the Korean Peninsula, said RoK defence officials.
