The APEC CEO Summit 2006 continued the second and last working day at the National Convention Centre in Hanoi on November 18.

Leaders and senior officials of several member economies delivered speeches at the conference, including: First Vice President of Peru, Admiral Luis Giampietri, who will be talking to Secretary General of UNCTAD and former Director General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) Supachai Panitchpaki on “Successfully competing for foreign direct investment: What are the lessons learned from the APEC economies?”; Prime Minister John Howard of Australia with the speech “Innovation as a driver of economic growth: What are the policies that work?”; Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi of Malaysia with the speech “Finding a common purpose in a diverse world”; and Secretary of State of the US Condoleezza Rice with the speech “US vision for APEC: Cooperation to community”.

Participating in the second working day are leaders of well-known corporations such as Chief Economist of General Motors Corp Mustafa Mohatarem; Chief Executive Officer of DHL Express Asia Pacific Scott Price; Senior Vice President of AT& T Christopher J. Rooney; President and Chief Executive Officer of Visa Asia Pacific Rupert Keeley; President of FedEx Express International Michael Ducker; and Permanent Vice President of the US - ASEAN Business Trade Council Virginia B. Foote.

During the last working session, the Chairman of the APEC CEO Summit 2006, Vu Tien Loc, will make a closing speech. The next APEC CEO Summit 2007 will be held in Sydney, Australia.

The Farewell Gala Dinner of the APEC CEO Summit 2006 will be held at 7.30p.m. at the Melia Hotel in Hanoi.
