A meeting to mark the 65th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam People’s Army and the 20th anniversary of All-People National Defense Day was held in Berlin, Germany on December 21.

This is the first time such a big meeting was held in Berlin as it attracted more than 300 war veterans, pioneers and Vietnamese people in Berlin-Brandenburg.

Ambassador Do Hoa Binh praised the war veterans’ holding the meeting and said it was a good way to spread patriotism, solidarity and love for the homeland among young Vietnamese people in Germany. He announced some important programmes that the Embassy will organise in 2010, such as cultural events to mark the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Germany, the Traditional Lunar New Year festival (Tet) and Vietnamese Cultural Year.

The meeting raised 4,000 euros for the soldiers who are protecting Truong Sa (Spratly) Island.
