Vietnam will facilitate US groups and companies’ investment in the country, said President Nguyen Minh Triet in his meetings with US businessmen in Hanoi on April 23.

At his separate meetings with Jamie Dimon, Chairman and CEO of JP Morgan Chase Bank, and Stuard Dean, Asia President of GE International, Inc, President Triet praised the groups’ contributions to Vietnam’s economic development.

He expressed his wish that the groups would further their cooperation with Vietnam. “Vietnam’s accession to the World Trade Organisation (WTO) would bring new opportunities and form an equal playing-ground for foreign investors in Vietnam,” he underscored.

President Triet said he believes that Vietnam, with its strong economic development and safe environment for investment together with the improvement of the two countries’ bilateral relations, will become a favourite destination for US investors.

Both US businessmen affirmed their groups’ long-term commitment to business in Vietnam and pledged to share experience with Vietnamese partners and to assist Vietnam in management personnel training.

JP Morgan Chase began its operations in Vietnam in 1995 while GE International Inc. opened its representative office in 1993. It is planning to build a factory in Vietnam.
