To Huy Rua, Party Secretary and Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Information and Education has asked media agencies to draw up an effective overseas-targeted information strategy to meet the country’s requirements in the new context.

Addressing a national conference in Ho Chi Minh City on March 14, Mr Rua pointed out opportunities and challenges facing Vietnam and emphasised the need to renew the dissemination of overseas-targeted information in the new situation.

He asked delegates to review the implementation of the Party Secretariat Directive No 11 on overseas-targeted information and discuss solutions for improving the quality and the efficiency of the information dissemination.

According to Mr Rua, over the past 15 years of implementing the Party Secretary Directive, overseas-targeted information has developed strongly in terms of the content, presentation, audience and areas of coverage, contributing to socio-political stability and national development. It has helped promote an image of a peaceful, friendly and dynamic nation, which boasts off great potential for development and is actively integrating into the world.
