The Ministry of Fisheries has recently approved a draft scheme to build a Vietnamese trademark for tiger prawns and a trade promotion strategy in the 2006-2010 period.

Accordingly, the ministry plans to hire consultancy experts from Japan and the US to study the situation in tiger prawn producing areas, as well as the operating process of processing factories for export and potential import markets.

The total cost for its activities in the next two years is estimated at VND7 billion, during which the ministry will concentrate on building a trademark for tiger prawns for export to Japan and the US.
