As many as 99 outstanding students who have achieved the highest results in the 2008 academic year attended a seminar in Hanoi on August 18 under the theme “Young Hanoians gearing up for the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.

Participants focused their discussions on how to help Hanoi become an attractive destination for tourists. They also gave opinions on measures to ensure a clean, green and beautiful Hanoi and uphold the traditional culture of Hanoians.

 

Vu Tuan Lam from Dong Do private University in Hanoi says young generations should preserve and develop the cultural and historical values of Thang Long-Hanoi through practical activities such as broadening their knowledge about the history of Thang Long-Hanoi and upholding the cultural style of Hanoians.

 

Nguyen Thi Kim Ngoc from Hanoi National University says that young people play an important role in developing the capital city. With a strong desire to study, work and engage in social activities young people will make a positive contribution to building Hanoi into a more prosperous capital, she added.

 

Other students expressed deep concern about air pollution, traffic congestion and urban zoning plans.
