At least nine people were killed and over 100 injured in a tragic road accident at Bangladesh's Sadullapur sub-district of Gaibandha district, 268 km northwest of capital Dhaka, on the morning of January 20, an official said.

Shahidul Islam, deputy commissioner of Gaibandha district, told that a bus coming from northwestern Rangpur district suddenly stopped on the highway at the point due to deep fog. At that time, two other running buses hit this bus from behind.

"Nine bodies were found at the spot and over 100 people injured including 40 in critical condition", he added.

After police were informed, local police rushed in, rescued the injured and sent them to different hospitals for treatment.
