Vietnam is the only nation in the Southeast Asia that has raised its women’s progress indicator to 72.18 percent in 2007 from 70.57 percent in 2006, according to the results of a survey on women’s advancement released by MasterCard Worldwide.

The results show that Vietnamese women have made steady progress and women’s participation in the workforce is roughly equal to men’s in Vietnam.

Georgette Tan, Vice President of Communications in Asia/Pacific, Far East and Africa of MasterCard Worldwide said Vietnamese women continue to reduce the gap between men and women to achieve gender equality in all fields. As Vietnam is rapidly integrating into the global economy, women will play an important role in the country’s economic development.
