Ha Van Nguyen, a 19 year-old H5N1 patient from the northern mountainous province of Thai Nguyen, was released from hospital on July 4 after 43 days of treatment at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi.

Nguyen is the third of five patients to recover after contracting the H5N1 bird flu virus so far this year. Two patients died from the disease.

Nguyen was initially admitted to the hospital in a critical condition with severe damage to his internal organs.
