Korean films to be screened in Vietnam

Two Korean films entitled “My father is a woman” and “The actresses” will be shown during the Korean Film Festival to be held in the cities of Hai Phong, Nha Trang, and Da Nang from June 11-26.

The festival, organized by the Korean Cultural Centre in Vietnam, is to bring quality Korean motion pictures to Vietnamese audiences who are very keen on Korean films.

“My father is a woman” directed by Lee Kwang Jae and “The actresses” directed by Lee Jae Yong, were premiered in the Republic of Korea earlier this year, and attracted huge audiences.

“My father is a woman” is a romantic comedy about a boy looking for his father, who has become a woman after a sex change operation.

In this bitter sweet story of the “woman father”, (performed by Lee Na Young), and his son, viewers discover that through this facade lies a deep and mutually understanding love between every parent and their offspring.

“The actresses” is a story about six exceptional Korean actresses from different generations, at a photography studio while they are on a photo shoot with a Christmas theme for the magazine “Vogue”.

Viewers will have the chance to explore not only the actresses’ talent but also their sincerity as well as the deceit in their everyday lives through the conflicts that happen at work.

The Korean Cultural Centre in Vietnam hopes the festival enable Vietnamese people to enjoy and discover the unique features of the Korean cinema industry.
