Laos takes the lead in attracting Vietnamese investment worth US$364 million. Notably, Vietnamese investment in Laos has increased rapidly in recent times after the two sides agreed to conduct joint co-operation projects to develop infrastructure facilities, energy and material supply areas.

Other recipients of Vietnamese investment include Iraq (US$100), Russia (US$38 million), Algeria (US$35 million), and Malaysia, Singapore and Cambodia (US$18-30 million).
Vietnamese investment abroad is focused on oil and gas exploitation with US$161 million, heavy industry (US$289 million), agriculture (US$81 million) and services (US$67.9 million).

Enterprises said that legal corridors should be completed to expand the country’s overseas investment. To date, Vietnam has not yet established an agency in charge of supporting enterprises investing abroad.
