National Women’s Congress wrapped up in Hanoi

The 11th National Women’s Congress closed in Hanoi on March 14 with a new executive committee elected and statutes amended.

  • Women need more State assistance

Under the theme “Solidarity, creativity, integration, and development”, the Congress is an important political event, marking developments in upholding women’s role, potential, creativity, and contributions to the nation’s industrialization and modernization, as well as affirming the Party and State’s due attention to women and women’s organizations.

The three-day congress reviewed women’s emulation campaigns and the Vietnam Women’s Union’s (VWU) activities in the past five years, and devised orientations and tasks for the 2012-2017 tenure.

At the closing ceremony, Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa was re-elected President of the VWU Central Executive Committee. Her deputies are Tran Thanh Binh, Nguyen Thi Kim Thuy, Hoang Thi Ai Nhien, Nguyen Thi Tuyet, Bui Thu Ha, Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, and Tran Thi Huong.

Addressing the ceremony, VWU President Hoa expressed appreciation to Party and State leaders, central agencies and international friends for contributing to the congress’s success.

The 11th Congress will open up new opportunities for the development of women’s campaigns and decisions on major related issues, as well as VWU’s activities in the context of international integration and sustainable development for the nation’s prosperity.
