The annual conference of senior official from Quang Nam province in Vietnam and Sekong province in Laos took place in Tam Ky City, Quang Nam on June 7.

This year, both provinces will continue to push forward investment projects to improve their transport infrastructure.

In the social and cultural fields, Quang Nam continues to grant scholarships to 30 students from Sekong to study in the province every year.

After graduating from Quang Nam Medical College in 2010, Lao students will do a probationary period for 3-6 months at some hospitals and health centres in Quang Nam.

The province will provide two additional scholarships for medical staff to study Vietnamese at Quang Nam University in 2011.

Sekong will also take employees from Quang Nam province to study Lao language and will assign several teachers to hold Lao language classes in the province.

Quang Nam will provide Sekong with 20 tonnes of rice and VND100 million in aid for flood victims as well as VND150 million to build a primary school for Vietnamese children in Sekong.
