A symposium on “The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) –80 years of building and development” was held in Hanoi on January 26 by the HCM National Academy of Politics and Public Administration.

In a speech, Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Phu Trong reviewed the Party’s political platforms from 1930 to today and demonstrated that each platform reflected the situation in each specific period but showed the Party’s consistent viewpoint on the objectives, strategic tasks and methods of the Vietnamese revolution.

The Party’s political platforms were based on a creative application of the development of fundamental points of views of Marx–Leninism, Ho Chi Minh’s thoughts, national tradition and practical realities of Vietnam and the world. Therefore, they reflected profound theories combining the class nature with nationalism and meeting the urgent needs of the Vietnamese revolution in specific period of time, Mr Trong noted.

The Academy’s Director Le Huu Nghi praised the Party’s clear-sighted leadership over the past 80 years, which has helped raise Vietnam’s status in the region and the world.

More than 90 reports presented at the symposium highlighted late President Ho Chi Minh’s contributions to building the CPV and the many successes and great victories of the Vietnamese revolution over the past 80 years.

Other reports focused on the working class, the Party’s combative strength and its leadership in the political theatre.
