Hanoi currently has 69 areas qualified for producing and processing safe vegetables, according to the Hanoi Plant Protection Department.

The capital has more than 2,500 hectares grown with safe vegetables, including nearly 70 hectares which meet Vietnamese Good Agricultural Practices (VietGap) standards and more than 10 hectares under organic vegetables cultivation.

In addition, the municipal authority has approved 17 projects to grow safe vegetables on more than 2,000 hectares.

The Hanoi Plant Protection Department plans to apply advanced farming techniques to ensure good quality and adequate supply of safe vegetables for the city.

The capital city is expected to have 151 safe vegetable growing areas, covering more than 6,600 hectares by 2015.
