The International Association of Golf Travel Operators (IAGTO) last week recognised Vietnam as one of its “Undiscovered Golf Destination of the year” for 2007 at its annual awards gala.

Vietnam, together with Abu Dhabi, Costa Rica, Italian Lakes, Kenya and Oregon, won the award amongst 41 nominees around the world.

85 members of the International Golf Travel Writers Association (IGTWA) participated in the vote.

Seven criteria for evaluation included to what extent the destination is undiscovered, attractiveness of the region and courses, course quality and accessibility, standard of accommodation, friendliness of the staff, value for money, and speed of play.

Currently, there are 15 golf courses operating in Vietnam, with more than 30 projects at some stage of development.
