Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on October 2 assigned the Foreign Ministry and the Interior Ministry to outline a plan to establish a State steering board for border demarcation and marker planting.

The two ministries were required to submit the plan to the Prime Minister in November.
The State Steering Board for Border Demarcation and Marker Planting will be the merger of the Government's steering boards monitoring border demarcation and marker planting along Vietnam's land borderline with China and Cambodia, and the steering board overseeing the project to augment and restore the border marker system on the borderline between Vietnam and Laos.

The Government's Steering Board for Vietnam-China border demarcation and marker planting was set up under the Prime Minister's decision dated August 16, 2002.

The Government's Steering Board for Vietnam-Cambodia border demarcation and marker planting was established under the Prime Minister's decision dated on March 9, 2006.
