The country’s consumer price index (CPI) in September will rise around 0.6 percent, more than 0.2 percent against August, according to the recent forecast of the Information Consultancy Council under the Ministry of Trade.

The council said the increase is attributed to the adverse weather and complicated development of bird flu and foot-and-mouth diseases, high purchasing power before the opening of the new school year and summer holidays. In addition, the impact of world market prices, the rise in domestic petrol prices and salary adjustment are also reasons for a rise in the prices of certain kinds of products.

With a great deal of effort to keep a good balance between supply and demand and to curb diseases, the local market will remain stable.
