The Vietnamese Government will create favourable conditions for German businesses to increase their investment and operate efficiently in the country, said Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

While receiving former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder in Hanoi on March 30, Mr Dung noted that Vietnam-Germany relations have developed well in recent times, with two-way trade last year reaching more than US$3 billion. The Vietnam-Germany university has been recently inaugurated, demonstrating the effective cooperation in education and training between the two countries, said Mr Dung.

Vietnam wants to increase cooperation with Germany in all areas, said Prime Minister Dung, citing the great potential for developing bilateral trade and investment ties.

He expressed his hope that Germany would speed up the implementation of cooperation projects between the two countries, including those on a metro route in HCM City and the National Assembly building in Hanoi.

For his part, Mr Schroeder affirmed that he will try his best to boost bilateral cooperation in various areas. He said that he will soon lead a German economic delegation to visit Vietnam to explore opportunities for cooperation.
