PHẦN II: SLIPPING UP
Unlike A, N dropped out of school completely, cutting off contact with both teachers and friends.
The incident happened suddenly on Sunday after the Lunar New Year holiday. The school had grasped the incident and invited the families and students involved to work.
In the clip which surfaced on social media, N and another female student rushed in to tear off a schoolgirl’s shirt, grab her hair, kick her head and face constantly, and pull her away,
paying no heed to the fact that the victim was crying and begging.
Ho Tuan Anh, Principal of Quynh Phuong Secondary School, recalled: “The incident happened when N and her friends went out to play at a school in Tien Thuy commune, Quynh Luu district, Nghe An province, about 20km from Quynh Phuong Secondary School.
This incident has caused indignation from netizens by its barbaric nature. The school had grasped the incident even before the police notified and invited the families and students involved to work.
All the parties sat down to work persuasively and agreed to mediation. The school also handled the case in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training”.
For me this is a failure case
The first weeks after the incident saw N go to school as usual. But about two weeks later, N started missing school for unknown reasons. The form teacher came to her house three times to find her and encourage her back to school. N later returned to school, but during classes she just collapsed on the table or disturbed the teacher to prevent him from teaching.
N was a well-dressed and well-made-up female student in grade 8… She was completely different from what she looked like two years earlier when Principal Tuan Anh welcomed her on the enrolment day to grade 6.
The first meeting took place right in the Principal’s room, when N and her grandmother came to see the Principal after the enrollment session.
As soon as N’s grandmother met the Principal, she burst into tears when talking about the girl’s disadvantaged situation, but N was still naïve with her clear, childlike eyes.
N was born into a family in a coastal countryside village in special circumstances. She was born without knowing her father’s face, and her grandmother even did not know who her father was.
After giving birth, N’s mother left her hometown to move to the South, leaving behind the baby with her grandmother.
During her study from grade 6 to grade 8, the school always provided N with necessary assistance both spiritually and materially. She went to school normally like any other students. She studied hard and fully engaged in school activities.
"We have tried to find out why N acted so impulsively and rebelliously. The root of the problem is the lack of attention and education from the family. N’s grandma is almost 80 years old, while her uncle often goes out to the sea for fish catching... so it is almost impossible to manage and educate her granddaughter".
Teachers’ attention and care may not have been enough as she is approaching puberty with so many physical and emotional changes.
N has a big emotional gap, so she looks for groups of friends in society without distinguishing between the good and the bad.
N’s actions do not originate from major conflicts, but just spontaneous and petty conflicts among children. But her behavior makes society worried, even somewhat indignant.
I personally feel sorry too
