FM Son pays tribute to President Ho Chi Minh in Montreuil

VOV.VN - Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son laid flowers in tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his statue in Montreuil city, as part of his working visit to France from May 2 to May 3.

Upon addressing the event, which featured the participation of local leaders, representatives from the French Communist Party, Vietnamese expats, and French people, FM Son thanked Montreuil for preserving valuable documents and exhibits of the late leader at the Living History Museum, as well as the support that local leaders and people have given to Vietnam over the years.

He emphasized that both nations have a special connection in a multitude of areas, from history and economics to culture, architecture and people, expressing his delight at the sound strategic partnership that exists between the two nations.

FM Son highlighted local co-operation as a standout trait of bilateral ties, going on to speak highly of the robust multifaceted ties between Montreuil and Hai Duong province, as well as with Vietnam as a whole.

The nation always regards France to be a leading partner, standing ready to deepen the strategic partnership framework between the two countries, he affirmed.

He thanked Montreuil Mayor Patrice Bessac, as well as the Living History Museum, for arranging an exhibition on the Dien Bien Phu Victory and making public a portrait of President Ho Chi Minh specifically for the occasion.

The common values of peace, friendship, and co-operation have created a firm foundation for the development of modern bilateral relations, he stressed.

In response, Mayor Bessac stated that FM Son’s visit on the occasion of the 134th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh contributes to honouring the relations between the country and the French city.

Recalling the century-old friendship between the two sides since the establishment of the French Communist Party with the participation of President Ho Chi Minh, he said the whole world should follow the Vietnamese leader’s steps to fight for the worthwhile causes of peace and fraternity.

On the occasion, the Vietnamese diplomat also visited the Ho Chi Minh space at the Living History Museum, along with taking in an exhibition that displays Dien Bien Phu publications by French historian Alain Ruscio.
