Second baguette festival to gather 50-year long standing brands
VOV.VN - The second Vietnamese Banh Mi (baguette) festival is scheduled to take place from May 17 to May 19 in Ho Chi Minh City, with the event showcasing many 50-year long standing brands from across the country.
According to the organisers of the event from the HCM City Department of Tourism, the festival will bring together a total of 150 pavilions from domestic and foreign restaurants, hotels, bakeries, and businesses, with the ultimate aim of recognizing the value of bread in Vietnamese cuisine whilst honourinng the skill and creativity of local bakers.
The festival will therefore feature impressive images of giant dragon mascots straight from the entrance using Vietnamese Banh Mi (baguette).
The organisers will arrange a special area specifically aimed at displaying photos and documents about baguettes throughout history, thereby helping visitors to explore the Vietnamese food culture.
Furthermore, a ceremony will be held to honour top long-standing and famous bread brands in the country, as well as a workshop on the development of Banh Mi in the nation.
The first-ever Vietnamese baguette festival was held in Ho Chi Minh City back in 2023, drawing the participation of around 50,000 visitors.
On March 11, the Vietnamese baguette ranked first on the list of the top 100 sandwiches in the world, as revealed by international food website Taste Atlas.
In 2011, Banh Mi was admitted into the Oxford English Dictionary, thereby becoming an entry in the canon of existing 600,000 English words.
