After playing 9 matches at the 2nd Dragon Capital Vietnam chess open, the host country’s international Grandmaster Le Quang Liem became champion.

Seeded number one in the tournament, Liem, put in an excellent performance with 8 points in 9 matches (7 wins and 2 draws).

The runner-up was another Vietnamese International Grandmaster, Dao Thien Hai and third place was taken by Tu Hoang Thong, also from Vietnam.

The winners took home a cash prize of US$4,000, the runner-up received US$3,000 and third place got US$2,000.

The championships was held at the De Nhat Hotel in Ho chi Minh City from December 2-8 with the participation of 28 domestic and 10 foreign chess players, mainly from India, Malaysia, Singapore, the Netherlands and South Africa.
